About Us

Dr. E. Bayne Carew's experience as faculty and independent businessman includes leadership roles in several companies involved in biotechnology, organic semiconductors and waste management. He served as the Director and Principal Investigator of the US Navy's Technology Center within Mechanical Engineering at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, with a Professorship at the University of Michigan in Dearborn before early retirement to start a waste remediation company.

His academic experience includes materials research at Ford Motor Company, Harvard/MIT, University of Pennsylvania, Carnegie Institution of Washington, Michigan Cancer Foundation, and the University of Michigan. Publications and Patents cover semi conductive polymers, laser vision, magnetic affinity carriers for viral particles, continuous industrial waste processing equipment and centrifugal filters in several different formats. His undergraduate and graduate training covered chemistry, biochemistry and biophysics at McMaster University (Canada), the University of Michigan and the University of Pennsylvania.

Dr. Carew designed, patented and tested variable aperture filtration systems for use in agriculture and machine oil recycling. He modified the original self cleaning-variable aperture filter by combining the centrifugal and filtration components in a variety of forms to filter without pretreatment chemistry and purify filtered products (including water) for recycling.

Michael Stone served previously as the President of Carew Filtration Systems. He is currently on a leave of absence, serving his State in the National Guard. He has nearly a decade of experience serving in a variety of corporate positions, including Corporate and General Counsel. He has managed Patent portfolios and directed Patent litigation. He also a former trial attorney and has corporate experience in personnel, logistics, and operations.

Mr. Stone holds a B.A. in History from the Univeristy of Detroit, a Juris Doctorate from Michigan State University School of Law, and a Masters of Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College.
